MALTEZOS, Helen P., of Tampa, FL passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018. She was 85. Helen was born October 24, 1933 on the Greek island of Tinos. She was the daughter of the late Christos and Katina (Stefanou) Paraskevas. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. One to never miss a birthday or anniversary, she would always show her love for family and friends by calling or sending a note to let them know she was thinking of them. To many, she was known as “the person who sent greeting cards to everyone.” A kind, thoughtful and fun-loving soul, Helen looked at the world in the most positive way, always seeing the bright side of things. She had a green thumb, was a great cook and baker and most of all, she loved life. She emigrated to the United States through Ellis Island on March 24, 1948. To her, America represented a place of hope and new opportunities. She liked sharing the stories of her life and was quick to let people know “that the libraries did not have enough room for all the books she could write.” She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Stephen “Steve” Maltezos.
Survivors include her son, Chris Maltezos; daughter, Kathy (George) Kaburis: grandson, Mihail Kaburis; sister, Evangeline (the late Dr. Demetrios) Halkias; brother John (Jane) Paraskevas and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
