Hector “Rod” Rodriguez-Moura, age 84, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away on November 7, 2021, after a brave battle against lung cancer. Hector’s greatest joy was his family and love of country. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joan Rodriguez and their 4 children: Kent Rodriguez (wife Teenia Rodriguez), Roger Rodriguez (wife Barbara Peoli), Christy Complo (husband Anthony Complo), and Cynthia Russell-Kryszewski (husband Leo Kryszewski), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hector was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Felix Rodriguez and Eugenia Moura who both preceded him in death. At the age of 19, he set his course to join the US Navy where he served as part of the Navy’s submarine fleet aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS Thomas A Edison, and USS Tullibee. His service took him around the world where he developed his love of country. He received numerous service accommodations during service before retiring from the Navy in 1976. Upon his retirement, he relocated with his family to Jonesboro, Arkansas where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University. After graduating, he went on to work as an engineer in the automotive industry until his retirement to Florida.
Throughout his life, his work ethic was always the same and second to none. He was loyal, hard-working, and a man of great integrity and unyielding honesty. It was these principles that he valued most, and that he instilled in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He met each day of his life with a joy and pleasure that will leave a lasting example to all those who had the pleasure of spending time with him. He will be missed dearly.
There will be visitation at Blount and Curry Funeral Home- Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 West Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618 on Saturday, November 27, 2021 beginning at 1pm. His family will be present to welcome loved ones. A funeral will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
