She is preceded in death by her parents; Jesse and Allie Mae Minton, her sister Dorothy Britt (Calvin) and brother Jesse Charles Minton (Jackie) and her loving husband Bill Ferlita Sr.
Gloria is survived by her two sons, Bill Jr. (Pauline) and Kenneth (Madlein) and five grandchildren, Kristin Ferlita Capazola (Scott), Angela Ferlita Hugo (Brian), Nicole Ferlita Bishoff (Matt), Michelle Milla Ferlita, and Kenneth Ferlita, Jr., seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was born in Mississippi where her parents had a farm in Wesson, Mississippi. As a young adult, Gloria moved to New Orleans where she met and married Bill during his senior year of college at Loyola University. After Bill graduated from Loyola, he returned to his hometown of Tampa with his wife and baby boy. Gloria resided in Tampa for nearly 70 years raising her two boys. With the help of her new Italian family she became an excellent cook of Italian dishes and her traditional southern dishes with many family dinners at their house. She adopted her husband’s love of football, and they were season ticket holders for the UT Spartans and Buccaneers for decades. Gloria was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A Private Graveside Service will be conducted on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 1 p.m.. Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 5048 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, Florida 33610.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Gloria Minton Ferlita.
