Gilberto Elí Vega, M.D., 82, a resident of Tampa, Florida for over 47 years, died peacefully at home on the first of May 2022. He was born in Bayamon, PR on January 21, 1940. In 1964 he graduated from Marquette University Medical School where he proudly received his medical degree. As a solo practicing Orthopedic Surgeon, he engaged in a 40+ year career where he cared for patients of all ages as if they were his own family. The foundation of his beautiful life was his family and countless friends. His wife Ilona of 56 years; two daughters, Shanone and Ilona; son-in-laws, Brian and Julian; and three grandchildren, Brennon, Luisa and Elise- will forever keep his memory and spirit alive. A funeral mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Friday, May 06, 2022 at 10am with a reception to follow in Higgins Hall.
