Born August 11, 1933, in Palmetto Beach, FL, he loved riding his bike or the streetcar to Ybor City.
Jerry was a proud graduate of Jesuit High School class of 1951, where he lettered in football, baseball, and track. He then went on to attend the University of Tampa. In 1955, he married the “love of his life,” Patricia Frisco, in Tampa. They had two children, Gerald E. Alexander Jr. and Nancy Patrice Alexander.
Jerry had a lengthy career with the City of Tampa where he was a Civil Engineer and Superintendent of the city’s Water Department. He was proud to be a founding member of the City of Tampa Federal Credit Union and enjoyed being on the board of directors. Jerry also had a fondness for travel, especially to Miami, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. In his free time, he volunteered at the American Red Cross and Christ the King Catholic Church, where he was a parishioner. In his later years, many could find him sitting in his open garage, cigar in hand, feeding the squirrels, and socializing with neighbors.
Jerry was predeceased by his mother, Alene Alexander, and his father, Manuel Gonzalez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Patricia Frisco Alexander, loving daughter, Nancy Patrice Alexander, and son, Gerald (“Jerry”) Alexander Jr. (Cheryl). Grandson, Dr. Gerald (“Trey”) Alexander III (Jana), and Granddaughter, Lauren A. Sawyer (Thomas) Great Grand Children, Rowan and Amelia Alexander – Grady and Beau Sawyer.
