George Fields, of Tampa, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2018. He was born in Dudley, NC where he grew up on a farm. He graduated from East Carolina Teachers College in 1952 with a major in business and a minor in math. He was married to his devoted wife and best friend Jean Fields for 64 years. George retired from US Sugar Corporation in 1992 where he was in charge of rail operations. He enjoyed tutoring children in algebra and geometry at Hope Children’s Home. His favorite past times were playing golf, sports, and reading.
George is survived by his wife, Jean, their daughters, Lynn (Mark) Sparks, and Andrea (Byron) Smith plus 5 grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Sparks, Jamie (Patrick) O’Neill, Zachary (Kristin) Sparks, Rachel (Will) Schapker, and Alex Smith. He was delighted to welcome 4 great grandchildren, Annabelle Sparks, Rowan Sparks, Selah Schapker, and Elizabeth Sparks.
