Emery, Forrest Alan died Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Forrest was born to Clyde Harding Emery, Sr. and Mary Lorraine McDow Emery on April 24, 1948 in Lebanon New Hampshire. At the age of nine, Forrest would walk up to the golf course and carry members' bags, earning his first job, and a lifelong hobby of golf. In high school, he joined the track team. Training consisted of running to the next town and picking up a quart of milk for his mom. To date, Forrest has a first place trophy for cross country running class of 1966 in the Lebanon High trophy case. Next, it was on to the University of New Hampshire and to the Keene State Teachers College, receiving an Associate of Arts degree. Forrest served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Ranger. He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam, The Army Commendation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. His mom had saved his paychecks which he used to buy a Ford Pinto, traveling through the States, stopping in California to do substitute teaching, and coaching. Leaving California to Florida, Forrest started a 40 year career in the automotive industry, meeting his wife of 47 years Carolyn, on Friday the thirteenth, September, 1974. Forrest worked for many family owned organizations, implementing improvements. He was the general manager of two Chevrolet stores of the Buddy Foster Auto Group. Vern Buchanan Auto Group of Ocala, he was responsible for writing Mr. Buchanan's business plan for implementing a body shop and new car get ready shop to enhance display care space, to increase sales of the previous owner 26 cars to over 220 monthly as his general manager. Ed Morse Saturn of Lakeland he was successful in turning used car inventory 1-1/2 times in 30 days and making Lakeland profitable. Forrest had a Florida Real Estate license and mortgage broker license. He had great work ethic and was results oriented. Forrest is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Emery, Riverview, FL. Family will receive friends from 2-5pm on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home West Hillsborough Chapel at 6802 Silvermill Dr. Tampa. A service will be held at 3pm. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue in Bushnell (I-75 exit 309). The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches P.O Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064.
