Eva Frances Perera (née Whitaker)passed away peacefully at her home with loved ones at her side on February 6, 2023. Eva was born on October 16, 1932 in Cookeville, TN, where she spent her youth. She married Lino Perera on December 22, 1951, and they enjoyed a happy marriage of 71 years.
Eva was a military wife who followed her husband around the world and across the United States. She was a stay-at-home mom to their 4 children, but chose to work in retail sales after her children grew up. She was an avid seamstress, knitter and beader which kept her active and busy throughout her life and into retirement. She was a member of several local machine knitting and beading clubs. Eva donated her knitted blankets to babies at local hospitals.
Eva was a devoted wife and mother who is survived by her husband Lino and her children Sandy Heiser (Jim), Linda Bell (Mike), and Richard Perera (Kathy). She is predeceased by her daughter Teresa Beard (Clif) and her mother Fannie Ruth Trisdale. She was a loving grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A short visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 9:30 a.m.—10:30 a.m. at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL followed by burial at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S.W. 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who feel able, instead make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
