Mrs. Edna Weesner peacefully passed away Saturday morning, May 31, 2014, in Tampa, Florida. She was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania on May 8, 1924. In the early 1940's she attended nursing training at the Albert Einstein Jewish Hospital in Philadelphia and became a nurse cadet ready to be deployed in WWII. However, the war ended and she left for Florida and met the love of her life, Paul E. Weesner. They married and she began her nursing career at Tampa General Hospital, retiring 40 years later. Edna loved her church work and remained active all her life. Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents, Warren and Florence Hinkel; her brother, Arthur Hinkel and her sister, Alberta Morgan. Edna is survived by her 3 children, Joann Lester of Alaska, George and Susan Weesner of Tampa, and Gene and Robin Weesner of Tampa, 5 grandchildren, Jason, Ed, J.P., Eric, and Grace, and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Blount Funeral Home at 3207 Bearss Av, Thursday, 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher, Friday, 11:00am. Interment will be in Lake Carroll Cemetery, and light refreshments will follow in Heritage Hall at the church.
