Touchton, Edith, a remarkable and beautiful soul, 93, of Tampa, passed away peacefully with Vickie, Sandy and Debra by her side on June 25, 2023. The Tampa Bay Area bids a heartfelt farewell to a woman whose legacy of love and resilience touched the lives of those fortunate enough to cross her path.
Born in Palm Harbor, Edith graduated from Hillsborough High School, worked in Jewelry stores and retired from the American Can Company after many happy years in Tampa. She loved the Tampa Bay Rays, the Buccaneers and the PGA tournaments.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Durwood and Annie Pope from Tampa; husband, Marvin Touchton of Tampa and her longtime friend and partner, Bert Pooley from Melbourne FL.
Edith leaves behind her only child and best friend who always called her “Precious Mother of the Universe”, Vickie Touchton (Dennis Martino), Vickie’s significant-other who Edith has loved like a son; granddaughter, Catherine Beckman (Dr. Josh Beckman), who held a very special place in her heart; great-granddaughter, Finley, who brought immeasurable joy to Edith’s life; cherished nieces, Charlyne, Debra, Michelle, Sandy and Susan who she loved and adored; her great friend and sister-in-law, Eileen Touchton and Edith’s beloved Persian cat, Bunker who was her love and companion also predeceased her just a few weeks ago.
Although Edith Touchton may have left this world to go to her Heavenly Father, her impact and legacy will live on through the lives she touched. She will forever be remembered as someone who embraced life with open arms, brightened every room she entered, and taught us all the importance of cherishing each moment. Edith's memory will be held close to the hearts of her loved ones, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Rest in eternal peace, my Precious Mother, and may your soul continue to shine brightly, reminding us all to cherish the moments that truly matter.
A Funeral service will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday June 30, 2023 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel with a Celebration of Life reception to follow immediately after the service.
