Edalina moved to NY from PR with her mother, Lydia, and her siblings Brunilda, Cecilia, Hugo and Paula. She met and married Juan Lopez on June 25, 1960. They raised 5 wonderful children, Alfonzo, Louie, Frances, Lydia and Elliot. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Nicole, Andrew, Luis Jr, Matthew and Adam, grandson-in-law, Clint and granddaughter-in-law , Kaila, also a great grandson, Brantley.
As a devoted Catholic, Edalina dedicated many years servicing the Lord in many ministries at Blessed Sacrament Church in Bronx, NY. She was also known as the "Pastelillo Lady" because she was known to make 300 pastelillos in one sitting for various Church functions.
There was no one in the neighborhood who had not experienced her amazing culinary skills. As the story of Jesus feeding 2000 people, Edalina's pots & pans produced the most amazing meals. She opened her doors and heart for many and was known to all as "Mother Lopez" or "Mami". She also babysat lots of children in the neighborhood and loved each one as her own and they loved her.
Edalina loved the outdoors, enjoyed amusement parks, long rides and traveling. She enjoyed a great slice of pizza, lo mein and once in awhile Bacardi (as her son-in-law, Manny, would call it "rompe diente").
To her children and grandchildren, she was "Our Angel".
In 2019 she moved to Florida, where she had the opportunity to spend more time with her grandchildren and great grandson.
We mourn her today and share the tears but in our hearts, we know we will meet again, until then "Mother Lopez / Mami".
We miss you and love you eternally....
"QUE DIOS TE BENDIGA"
