Born in Limestone County, Alabama and raised in Giles County, Tennessee. She then moved to Nashville, TN with her older sister Frances where they worked together at a shirt factory making uniforms for the soldiers of WWII.
She then moved to Jacksonville, FL for a short time before moving to Miami, FL where she became a fashion model for many local department stores. In 1954 she finally settled in Tampa and was also a model for Wolfe Brothers department store. She then worked for Eckerd Drugs Store in the cosmetic department. She also participated in the annual Gasparilla parade on the Eckerd's float before becoming a wife and mother.
She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, and gardener, who made every occasion from Christmas and Birthdays magical. Her love of music and dance brought her to ballroom dancing that she enjoyed for many years.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Richard D. Smith, and is survived by her daughter Bonnie Lynn Pellage and her husband Richard Pellage of Brooksville, FL, Also survived by three grandsons, Kasey Pellage, Bradley Hamel, of Tampa, and Christian Pellage of Columbia, SC.
A graveside service will be held, at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, at 2:00pm, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023 with Pastor John DeBevoise, of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church officiating.
