Born in Arlington, VA, on April 15, 1956 to Goldie (Peggie) Conner and Clarence Daniels, Donnie’s life was one of dedication, service, and devotion to family. After graduating from Falls Church High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War (Oorah!). He was a decorated serviceman, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. Rising to the rank of Corporal, Donnie exemplified discipline, bravery, and honor. After his honorable discharge, he pursued a successful career in IT and telecommunications, applying the same focus and dedication to his work.
In 1988, he married the love of his life, Patricia (Patti) Worssam, in a beautiful ceremony at their Falls Church, VA home. Together, they built a family rooted in love, loyalty, and laughter. Most recently, Donnie worked with AVIT in Tampa, FL, where he was respected not only for his professional expertise but also for his character and integrity.
Donnie was a man of quiet strength and boundless generosity. He gave of himself freely and without hesitation, always willing to lend a hand, share his wisdom, or offer support without expecting anything in return. He never shied away from life’s challenges, and his perseverance in the face of adversity was an inspiration to everyone around him. He had a natural ability to lead by example, whether in his professional life or as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a man who embraced simplicity—finding joy in fishing, reading, playing Solitaire, and tackling home improvement projects (especially those involving power tools). Yet, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family. His love for them was immeasurable, and they were the center of his world.
Donnie is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Erin, his mother Peggie, his father Clarence, and his stepfather Robert (Bobby) Fetzer. He leaves behind his devoted wife Patti; his children, Shawn Daniels and Emily Gibson (Daniels); his daughter-in-law Nichole Daniels (Aynes) and son-in-law Daniel Gibson; and his grandchildren, Andrew (Drew) Even, Alexis (Sassy) Daniels, and Brady (Squishy) and Price (Squeaky) Gibson. He is also survived by his sister Shari Daniels, his brother Steve Daniels and sister-in-law Joyce Daniels (Gregory), as well as cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Services honoring Donnie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10:30 am at Grace Family Church, 5101 Van Dyke Rd, Lutz, FL 33558. Al Garcia will officiate, and arrangements are being handled by Gonzalez Funeral Home.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in Donnie’s journey. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will remain in our hearts forever.
