Don graduated from Holland Patent Central Schools and received a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from the University of Delaware. He worked his entire career in the field of medical technology specializing in microbiology, initially in Salisbury, MD, and for over 3 decades in Tampa, at Swann Memorial Hospital and later Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) Integrated Regional Laboratories. He was dedicated to his job, and passionate about science and the importance of his work to help patients by finding the correct diagnosis. He loved Florida with its beautiful beaches and sunshine. He enjoyed sporty cars, traveling, and visiting new places.
He is survived by his two sisters, Janet Adams of Floyd, NY, and Joanne Adams and her husband Bob Mowery of New Albany, OH; his nephews Dan Adams and wife Teresa along with their sons Nolan, Xander, Griffin, and Ronin of Fremont, OH, Sean Mowery and husband Todd Keever of Nashville, TN, and Erik Mowery and wife Jessica along with their daughter Felicity of Columbus, OH; his uncle Thomas Blake and wife Lynda of Sherrill, NY; aunts Nancy Blake of NC, and Judy Pratt and husband Stan of Oneida, NY; great cousin Charlotte Williams of Sauquoit, NY; and many beloved cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Blount Curry Funeral Home located at 605 South MacDill Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33609. Immediately following the Service, the family will visit with guests until 1:00 p.m. A private graveside service for Don’s extended family will be held later in the spring in Central New York.
