Diane was born in Brooklyn, New York to George and Rita Large on April 15th, 1944. She went to school at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn, New York. In 1966, she married Robert Fisher and later gave birth to her daughters Linda and Gail. In 1993, Diane married William Barnes on March 5th, in Brooklyn, New York, and shortly after, they moved to Tampa, Florida. She worked as a Payroll Specialist for Oasis Outsourcing for 13 years before retiring in 2023. Diane was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, hardworking nature, and immense love for her family.
Diane is preceded in death by her husband, William Barnes; her parents George and Rita Large; her older sister Joan Gallagher; her niece Tracy Perez; and her ex-husband Robert Fisher.
Diane is survived by her daughters Gail and Linda Fisher; her two younger brothers Ronald Large (Mary Large) and George Large (Mary Ellen Large); her younger sister Janet Devenney (Charlie Devenney); her grandson Paul Caruso and her granddaughter Brooklyn Nichols (Andrew Vevoda). As well as multiple nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
A viewing and funeral services will be held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home (6802 Silvermill Dr, Tampa, FL) from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, July 1st, 2024. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL) at 1:30 pm. Arrangements are by Blount and Curry Funeral Home.
A special thank you is needed for her daughters Gail and Linda Fisher. She loved them more than words can explain. They were her biggest advocates, even fighting with nurses and doctors when needed, the best caretakers when things got difficult, and never left her side.
