David "John" Allen

Allen, David “John”, 58, of Tampa, Florida passed away November 23, 2015 in the Melech Hospice House as a result of brain cancer. John was born in Indiana, PA, and grew up in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated from Southport High School in 1975, and received a BS in Business Administration from Ball State University in 1982. John moved to Florida in 1985, and worked in cable television sales for many years. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, bowler, loved football, fishing, hacky sack and was a charismatic storyteller. He particularly enjoyed road trips with his wife, Anne and “getting lost” with her, especially in the mountains of North Carolina. He was loved by many people because of his unyielding helpfulness and sunny disposition no matter what was asked of him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Allen. He is survived by his adoring wife, Anne Midyette Allen; father, David B. Allen; son, J. Nicholas (Nick) Allen; stepsons, Samuel and Phillip Crosby; sister, Ginger Letzel (Jimmy); father and mother-in-law, Bill and Laura Midyette; nieces, Alexandra and Julia Letzel, Sara (Paul) Litten, Claire Midyette, Gena (Rob) Melberth and Savannah Midyette; nephew, Matthew Midyette; aunts, Mary Jane Miller and Christine Murdock; uncle, Rawson Murdock and many cousins. John was a faithful friend of Bill W. for 20 continuous years. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 5, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at the 3rd Avenue walkway on Pass a Grille Beach.
