Cynthia was born October 26, 1953, in Lakeland Florida to Hilton “Rudy” and Eleanor Bernice Connor and was the second child of three children. She was the sweetest little girl growing up, always trying to have some fun and constantly following her older sister Judy around. After graduating from Kathleen High School in 1971, she continued her education and achieved her Associates Degree. As a young adult, she moved with her best friend Debbie Battle to Virginia in 1980, where she met Dennis, her future husband that year. Cynthia and Dennis continued their courtship for two years until they were married in 1984 in Annapolis Maryland at Calvary Methodist Church. In October 1986, Cynthia and Dennis were blessed with a daughter they named Lauren Leigh. After getting married, starting a family and eleven years of cold winters, they decided to return to Florida and purchased a house in Tampa.
Cynthia began her career as a paralegal working for a very prominent attorney, later deciding to further her education obtaining her all lines adjuster’s license. She was a longtime insurance claims adjuster and eventually achieved the title of Branch Manager at Ward North America, formerly known as Ward Thomas Howel Group. She enjoyed working from home in the latter part of her career which allowed her to care for her elderly parents. When she wasn’t working, you could find her on her boat. She was known for the abundance of love she had for the beach, her boat and great music. Cynthia loved to dance and was always the life of the party.Cynthia loved to dance and was always the life of the party. She was elated to finally achieve her lifetime goal of retiring at the beach in 2015. She purchased a condo on Treasure Island to complete her fairly tail chapter in life on Isle of Capri.
Cynthia is survived by her former husband and loving friend, Dennis Healey; her devoted and dedicated daughter, Lauren Scantlebury and her beloved son-in-law, Mark Scantlebury; her pride and joy and only grandchild, Liam Ford Scantlebury; her caring brother, Thomas Conner (Kathy); two nieces, Kristen and Amanda, multiple cousins and many loving friends. Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents “Rudy” and Bernice; and her only sister, Judy Connor.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday July 31st, 2022 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at Blount and Curry Funeral Home 605 S. MacDill Ave. Tampa, Florida.
