Christopher Allen Winner passed away on June 26, 2023 in New York City. Christopher was born on January 16, 1994 in Brandon, FL. He is survived by his father and mother, Jason and Rebecca Winner; two younger siblings, Matthew Winner and Amanda Winner; his grandmother and grandfather, Lynda and John DeKeyser; great-grandmother, Lorraine Fleming; great-aunt, Joan Blanco; uncle, Kevin Russ; aunts, Denise McMillan and Angela Russ. He is also survived by several cousins. Chris was preceded in death by his grandpa, Zack Russ; grandma, Patricia Alonso and grandad, Charles Winner. He is also remembered by many friends.
Chris played soccer from a young child through his teenage years. He had a passion for architecture and home design, he loved to sing, and he had a passion for movies and books. He was a graduate of Durant High School, where he played the saxophone and baritone for marching band and Jazz band. These were some of his fondest memories. After high school, Chris went to the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Advertising. He interned and worked for several major advertising companies in Atlanta, Washington D.C. and finally followed his dreams all the way to NYC. He made it. Chris was funny and enjoyed joking around with his family and friends - he was so much fun to be around. He will also be remembered by his wealth of knowledge on so many topics. He was brilliant.
We’ve heard so many incredible stories about our son and how he helped others, often putting their needs in front of his own. He cooked dinners and donated items to help his neighbors, he helped people find homes and so much more. For those that he touched, he left an imprint on their heart that will never be forgotten.
Chris recently became an uncle to Asher Mathews. He was so excited and looking forward to meeting his nephew in person. We are heartbroken that he never got the chance, and we know that he would have been such an amazing and fun uncle.
Our family is devastated by the loss of such a talented and loving young man. We were so blessed to have had him 29 years, but it was not nearly long enough. We will miss him immensely.
“Someone great left us too soon.” – Milton
