Christine Lazzara Lopez

Christine Lazzara Lopez, age 78, of Tampa, Florida entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 11th, 2023, after a long illness, and bravely, and courageously fighting Glioblastoma for over 8 months. Christine was born in Tampa to the late James and Rose Lazzara. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School, class of 1963. She furthered her studies, earning her Associates, and Bachelors, at the University of South Florida, and later her Masters from the University of Tampa. Christine taught in the Hillsborough County Public School System for over 40 years, at Macfarlane Park, Crestwood, and Chiaramonte Elementary. She was an educator, Librarian, and a Media Specialist. She was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner at St Joseph's Catholic Church. Christine is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rose Marie Lazzara. She is survived by John Julius Lopez, Sr, her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, her first cousin Charlotte Smedberg, children; Catherine Rose Alvarez and John Julius Lopez, Jr (Jennifer Lopez),  grandchildren; Wesley Alan Alvarez (Summer LaMonte), Jaden Michael Lopez, Kiley Ann Lopez, Laney Christine Lopez, Preston Scott Lopez, extended family, and friends. A Celebration of Life gathering for Christine will be held Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 12:30pm at the Greenfield Midrises Condominiums clubhouse: 13622 Greenfield Drive, Tampa, Florida 33618, where flowers may also be sent. In addition, fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared here, for the Lopez-Alvarez family.
