Charlotte completed her life on this earth and is now in eternal rest with her lord Jesus Christ. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa Charlotte was born to Peyton and Lelia Jordan on July 6, 1922 (baptized by Father Curtis of St. John’s Episcopal) at her grandmother’s house at 1301 S. Howard. Charlotte passed away peacefully on August 27, 2015. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend who devoted her life to her family and the Tampa community. Charlotte attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Wilson Junior High School and H.B Plant High School. She received a B.S. in Economics from Florida State College for Women. She met her husband of 49 years, Tampa native Claude D. Logan, Jr., on a blind date when she was a high school senior and he a junior at the University of Florida. Six years later, upon returning from service in the USAF in the Pacific during WWII, Claude proposed (surprising her with an engagement ring he had worn around his neck on 37 missions over Japan) to Charlotte on Bayshore Blvd at Howard Avenue. At Claude’s request to fit in with required military schedule, Charlotte managed pulling off a large wedding at St. John’s Episcopal Church in a mere three and a half weeks. Her community service was extensive including leadership positions with the Tampa Junior Women’s Club, Junior League of Tampa, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Red Cross Angels, Rose Garden Circle, The Chiselers, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (founding member), St. John’s ECW, (St. Margaret’s Guild Banner Committee and Meals Ministry) Tampa, Historical Society, the H.B. Plant Museum, Lowry Park Zoo, MOSI, the Florida Aquarium, Tampa Museum of Art, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Heart Association, Antique Club, United Way, St. Johns Church and Tampa Yacht and Country Club. Charlotte was quietly and deeply spiritual. Her circle of dear friends aside, her greatest joys were her family and grandchildren. She spent countless years serving as officer on various PTA boards, as a cub scout den mother, as well as attending countless recitals, sporting events and numerous family reunion vacations all over Florida and North Carolina. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the hard working staff at Bayshore Pointe. Recognition is made to Dr. Vanessa Veve, a very special vivacious compassionate deeply caring and eloquently communicative geriatric physician who assisted Charlotte with utmost grace and care to her last breath. She is predeceased by her parents Peyton and Lelia Jordan, brother Peyton Jordan and husband Claude D. Logan, Jr. Charlotte leaves behind her children including sons Claude D. Logan III (wife Robin), W. Ray Logan (wife Mindy) and daughter Lelia Charlotte Logan Clewis (husband W. Frank Clewis) a granddaughter Anna Logan, grandsons Ross Logan, Peyton Logan, Cameron Logan, and William F. Clewis Jr. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2015 from 6-8PM at Blount & Curry MacDill chapel room located 605 S. MacDill Avenue Tampa FL. Memorial services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 902 S. Orleans Avenue, Tampa, FL on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at 4:00PM with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
