Charles John Saitta of Tampa, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 30, 2020. Charles went by Chuck with his friends and family. He was born in Mineola, NY to Concetta Perrone Saitta and Salvatore Saitta on January 23, 1942. Charles grew up in New York City and attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Hofstra University and City University of New York. He married Marion Ann Carriero of Port Chester, NY in 1965, and they remained loving spouses until her passing in November 2012. He served in the US Army in Frankfort, Germany during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he worked for Chase Manhattan Bank before launching his 35+ year career with IBM as a computer programmer in White Plains, NY, Bethesda, MD, and Tampa, FL. Charles and Marion were the proud, devoted parents of Jeffrey Saitta born 1967 and Pamela Saitta born 1968 and doting grandparents of Sophia and Alden Mehta of Southborough, MA. Charles spent part of every year living with his grandchildren in Massachusetts so he could be an active part of their lives.
Charles was a light-hearted, family-focused, laughter-filled man always ready for a good conversation and a hug. He leaves behind many cherished friends in Tampa, FL as well as his adoring family. He passed away leaving his beloved sister Jean Cangelosi of Land O’ Lakes, FL, his son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Jenna Saitta of Tampa, FL, as well as his daughter and son-in-law Pamela Saitta and André Mehta, and his grandchildren Sophia and Alden Mehta of Southborough, MA. He was fortunate to share the happy companionship of Marie Lambert of Lutz, FL in his final years. All miss him dearly and are deeply saddened by his loss. Due to the pandemic, there will not be a formal funeral service at this time. A memorial will be planned when safety permits. In lieu of flowers please carry forward good memories of him in your hearts.
