Chuck would stop in and help us out when I worked  at The Children’s Service Center( Lake Mag), many years ago. He was always kind and steady many times dealing with some very difficult youth. Sorry I am late hearing of his passing. May the souls of the faithfully departed Rest in Peace! 

I just heard that Chuck had passed, I am sorry I didn't get the chance to say goodbye. We were zone partners at HCSO for a number of years and I had served with him for a very short time in the 310th MI. I was very lucky to have been able to call him a friend. He was an outstanding person and friend. God bless his family and know he will always be remembered by those lucky enough to have known him as a friend.  

Janelle - I'm so sorry about the passing of your Grandfather. I was looking him up online to see if I could get in touch with him and was saddened when I found his obituary. I'm the daughter of his friend and former partner Jerry Johnson - Sarah (Johnson) Whitley. I have very fond memories of Chuck, Joan and you while growing up. I would love to catch up with you. I worked with Chuck for years and traveled with him doing corporate presentations. He was a good friend and my condolences to his family.  

This day last year I lost my grandpa and most importantly my dad. My grandpa was my mom's labor coach when she had me and he was also in the delivery room when I had my beautiful daughter. But my grandpa didn't stop there ,he continue to raise me like I was his own . I remember in 4th grade we had to write a speech on somebody that was a hero and role model and the first person that came to mind was my grandpa I didn't win that year but at least I got to let everybody know how wonderful and special my grandpa was to me. I love and miss you so much and I wish you was here everyday. But I know you're looking down on us with Grandma and guiding us I never feel alone. Love you grandpa always and 4 ever.

My grandpa was the most amazing man that God could ever put on this Earth. I miss him and think about him everyday. He  put everyone  before himself. I also miss his wonderful cooking and comical personality. He was truly loved and will be missed by all who come in contact with him. 

My husband, Dudley Clapp, served with Chuck in the 310th MID.  He held great admiration for Chuck and considered him a good friend.  My heart goes out to the entire Haber family.

We all shared so many happy moments with Chuck at the 310th MID over the years and after we retired.  He was a great friend and we will all miss him and all those great dinners.  

I remember Chuck.

I met Chuck in 1982, while working for HCSO.  I didn’t know him long, but I really liked him.  Chuck was not a stereotypical cop.  He NEVER ate a single doughnut while I knew him.  He was also the first (and only) cop I ever worked with who stopped at a bakery and got a croissant to go with his coffee.

That’s why I liked about Chuck.  He went his own way, and that certainly wasn’t with the crowd.  Chuck didn’t suffer fools and he didn’t like inept administrators.  What Chuck did like was breaking balls on occasion.  When the patrol cars got computer terminals, Chuck had a counterfeit chip listing allowing him to log in as the “Phantom Lieutenant” a nameless operator they never caught.

Chuck was an operator.  The last time I saw Chuck was when he popped into my office in Panama while he was in-country doing his Army reserve duty.  He was the Command Sergeant Major for his unit and he’d heard I was stationed down there.  I’ve never met another person more comfortable with who they were.  Chuck was not only confident, he was capable and steady.  

He was also a really good guy and I’m glad I knew him.
