Charles L. Bagby, 81 of Lutz, Florida passed away on January 10, 2024. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he grew up in Marietta, Georgia, graduated from Marietta High School and then the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia with high honors.
Charles, or Charlie by all those that knew him, had an enviable work ethic and passionate desire to learn. He worked as a CPA and retired as a partner for the same accounting firm his entire 47-year career. He was hired in 1964 by Haskins & Sells, the firm that later became known as Deloitte, a top 3 accounting firm in the world.
Charles was a wonderful, devoted husband and father to his wife and children, enjoyed creating memories with his family, and loved teaching adult Bible studies for more than 50 years. In his youth, he enjoyed playing all types of sports, playing both baseball and basketball at the University of Georgia. He loved sports, he loved to compete and loved to watch his children compete. Charles was a ravenous reader of books, including both historical (mostly Biblical and American History) writings as well as mystery fiction.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Judy, who he met at the University of Georgia; four children, Kelly Ann and her spouse Kelly, Keith and his spouse Michele, Amy and her spouse Matt, and Katie; 12 grandchildren, Jake, Charlie, Billy, Zach, Timmy, Luke, Mary Katherine and husband Jamah, Ellie, Jackson, Maggie, Matthew & Toby, and 1 great granddaughter Phoebe.
At age 18, Charles prayed to receive Christ on his knees on an outdoor basketball court. All who love him take comfort in knowing where he is now and look forward to seeing him again.
A celebration of life visitation for Charles will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Idlewild Baptist Church, 18333 Exciting Idlewild Boulevard, Lutz, FL 33548, followed by a celebration of life service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
