Delk, Carolyn Jeanette Simmons, 79, of Tampa, born in Cedartown, Georgia, died peacefully Friday morning, Feb. 10, 2012 with her children by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her 4 children, all from the Tampa Bay area: Bruce N. Delk (wife, Kim), Lori Hartwig Yusko Delk, Mary Lynn Greenblott (husband, Harry), and Gary A. Delk (wife, Viviana) and 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn (Mammaw) was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, a former kindergarten teacher, Sunday School teacher of over 30 years, former volunteer at the St. Joseph’s Women’s Center in Tampa, a devoted Christian and long-time member of Bay Ceia Baptist Church. She was a mother foremost, but when employed later in life, she worked at J.C. Penney’s and Jim Walters, Corp.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11am with service to begin1pm at Gonzalez Funeral Home; burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens
