Carol Gerdes

On September 27, 2022 at 11:11 A.M. Carol K. Gerdes passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved. When Carol walked into a room she didn’t turn on the lights she took away the darkness. She was a woman who loved life, wanted everyone around her to be happy and always kept it classy and a little sassy. She had such a wonderful sense of humor that could make you smile from ear to ear. If she had good food, family, friends and a delicious drink in her hand then it was a good day for our Wana. She was born on July 5, 1938 in Saint Stephens, South Carolina to William C. Kestler and Mildred Kestler. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Edwin E. Gerdes, her brother Johnny Kestler, her daughter Mary K. Gerdes and her multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren including Carolyn Dennis and Melissa Gerdes who she helped raise since the day they were born. She is preceded in death by her sister JoAnn Schrienker, her two beloved children Glenn A. Smith and Denise M. Smith. She will be deeply missed and loved forever. Her service will be at Blount and Curry on October 22, 2022.
