Carmen Louise Brown of Tampa, Florida made her transition peacefully, on Tuesday July 9,2019 at 12:30 pm after a long struggle with COPD. She was born to the late Viola Saunders and David Simmonds in Cienfuegos Cuba.
Her parents and siblings migrated to Jamaica where she lived most of her life, and met and married Cassive Brown with whom she bore seven children. Carmen was a very active member of the community in which she lived. She served as a postal clerk and also the Counsellor for the Tweedside Church of God Youth Fellowship, and had a small home school where she taught young girls in the community typing and shorthand.
Her latter years were spent in The United States where she was a part of a host of charity organizations, and served as a counsellor at the Crisis Centre in Tampa Florida.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband and three siblings, Carmen is survived by her brother Cyril, brother-in-law David , her children Keith( Pamela) ,Essie, Joseph (Marie), Glendon (Daphnie), Regnarene, Osmond and Heather; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday July 26 and a Thanksgiving service will take place at 10:00am on Saturday July 27 at The Blount and Curry Funeral Home Chapel located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. Tampa Florida 33618.
