the late Ada Taylor Barber and Jimmy Taylor.
Beverly attended Parker High School and Kennedy King College in Chicago. Bev was a very popular and well liked student who participated in a variety of activities.
She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age, and was baptized and became a member of New Friendship Baptist Church in Chicago. Later she converted to the Catholic faith and became an active member of St. Ailbe. Beverly’s christian faith was always on display, constantly inspiring her family and friends to do the right thing.
In 1982, Beverly was joined in holy matrimony to Peter White. To this union, one son was born, her only child, Michael Andrew Peter White. Mike and Beverly had an unbreakable bond. She was such a proud mother and he will always be her heartbeat. When people think of soulmates, Beverly and Peter are sure to come to mind. These two people were a faithful couple that held dear to their love for over 38 years. Peter was her caregiver and fully dedicated to her until the end.
Beverly was employed at the Chicago Transit Authority as a Ticket Agent Supervisor. But she was a true entrepreneur and decided to open a clothing store, Bev’s Jeans and Thing. After leaving CTA, she started a successful Mortgage Finance Company in Matteson and Park Forest, Illinois.
In 2010, Beverly and Peter traded the Windy City for fun in the sun and alligators, they moved to Florida. She loved the warm weather and sitting around her pool reading.
She was caring, outgoing and unapologetically direct. The party didn’t start until she arrived. Bev enjoyed jazz music, bid whist and motorcycles. Beverly’s life revolves around her family. Although, she had many friends. She never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anybody.
Due to complications of breast cancer, Beverly made her transition peacefully in her home on Sunday morning, March 29, 2020. She will join her family who preceded her in death: Her father, Jimmy Taylor; her mother, Ada Taylor Barber; her brothers, John Jr. and Derrick McCarty.
She leaves to mourn: Her loving and devoted husband, Peter; her one and only son, Michael; one step-daughter, Joanie White; her sisters, Gloria Sims (Austin); Adrien Ready (Steven) and Wilda Pugh (Daryl); her stepfather, Henry Barber (Gertrude). A host of beloved nieces and nephews. Her countless cousins, extended family and friends. She had many special people in her life including two bonus nephews; Charles Sanders (Chuckie) and David Wiggins. She will be dearly missed.
WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me
I wish you wouldn’t cry
The Way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We did not get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
Each time that you think of me
I know you will miss me too
When tomorrow starts with out me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
The angel said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And That I would have to leave behind
All those I Dearly Love
But When I walked through Heaven’s Gates
I felt so much at home
When GOD looked down and smiled at me
From his golden throne
He said This Is Eternity
And All I promised you
Today for life on earth is done
But Here it starts a new
I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And Since each day’s the exact same way
There is no longing for the past
So When Tomorrow starts without me
Do not think we’re apart
For every time you think of me
Remember I’m right here in your heart
