Beverly Kass, 91, passed peacefully on January 21, 2020. Beverly was the matriarch of the family, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Born in Brooklyn, New York, later moved her family to Tampa in 1953. Her hard work and fortitude were recognized early in her career as the owner of Lo-Be Cosmetique for more than 40 years. She was affiliated with Beth Israel Synagogue and president of the Congregation’s Sisterhood in her early years in Tampa. Beverly was a longtime supporter of the Tampa Bay Bridge Center, where she served as president and an instructor for countless beginner and intermediate players. Family and friends will remember Beverly for her perseverance, spirit, enormous heart, and preparer of fantastic matzo ball soup.
She was preceded in death by Selig, her husband of 62 years, beloved son Jeffrey Scott Kass and brothers Lenny and Jackie. Beverly leaves behind daughters Iris, Barbie (Greg), Vickie (Jeff); granddaughters, Rachel Booth (Elaina), Carrie Burkett (Travis), Lori Epperson (Mark), Lia Kass; great-granddaughters, Reed Katelynn Burkett and Emma June Burkett; nieces; Susan Wright, Patty Drake, and extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A funeral service will take place at 11am on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Blount and Curry Funeral Home located at 3207 W Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. Family will receive friends before the service starting at 10:30am.
