She was born August 19, 1926, in Springhill, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Mary Sedlock. Betty had many happy memories from her childhood in Smithfield, Pennsylvania. After graduation she moved to New York City. While living there, she met a handsome sailor who became her husband. After transferring to the Air Force, Frank was sent to Naples, Italy, where Betty soon joined him. After three years in Europe, they were transferred to Tampa, Florida, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Betty enjoyed working for Dr. Steinmetz for over 20 years. After retirement, she volunteered for the Red Cross at MacDill AFB. She found great joy in spending time with her granddaughter, Katherine, and in her 80s, Betty developed a passion for painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Frank Tomczak, her ten siblings, and her parents. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Tomczak of Dallas, Texas, and Suzanne Seder of Tampa, Florida, and granddaughter Katherine Seder of New York, New York. She also leaves behind loving family members from both her and Frank’s families to forever cherish her memory.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 5:30 PM in the chapel at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church. Betty will be laid to rest privately at Florida National Cemetery, next to her beloved husband, Frank.
