Tampa, Florida- Betty Clark Greene age 97 of Tampa passed away Sunday March 13, 2022 at her home. She was born on July 25, 1924 in Newton-le- Willows a small railway town in Lancashire England. Betty’s parents where William Clarke and Isabel Clarke (nee Lawrence). Betty was raised within the Church of England.
Betty was taught at the Manor primary school and went on to a private secretarial college and Technical College from where she went on to her chosen career working originally at the Vulcan Works followed by an appointment as a private secretary at Burtonwood Brewery. At the same time teaching on a part time basis.
She left Burtonwood Brewery to begin a new life in America in July of 1951 and married
George Wilmer (Dick) Greene.
Betty became a naturalized American Citizen and joined the Civil Service serving at number of bases finally at MacDill Air Force base from where she retired after serving 38 years.
Betty loved her dogs and all dogs particularly dachshunds she was involved in Dog Clubs in Tampa area. Betty had many dogs during her lifetime all a very big part of her life.
Betty is survived by her Brother Eric, as well as her nieces and nephews who live in and around Newton-le-Willows and Cambridge in England.
Survivors also include her nephew Keith Greene and wife Sharon of Tampa.
And her dog April "little girl".
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of her caregivers for the absolute best care anyone could ask for. Each and every one of you loved and cared for her like she was your own family member. She loved all of you as well. Thank you Joanne, Rose, Chicquita, Sharnee, Debbie, Valerie, Shamika, Kisha, Delores, Kim, Loni and Jen.
A special thanks to her longtime friend and veterinarian for over 50 years Dr. Eddie Garcia for always taking care of her beloved dogs, delivering food and medicine for them, making sure they stayed up to date on their shots, tags or anything else they needed. In addition, most of all just being a really good friend.

Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday Evening from
6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home in the Bayshore Room 605 S. MacDill Avenue Tampa, Florida. A graveside service will be held on Monday March 28, 2022 at 10:30AM in the Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Ave. Bushnell, Florida where she will be laid to rest beside her husband George W. Greene.
