Mrs. Betty Louise Barnes lived an inspirational 87 years, full of love and loyalty. Her time with us came to a peaceful end on January 24th 2025, at her home in Tampa, FL, surrounded by loved ones. Betty was born July 5th, 1937 in Lancaster, PA, to the late Leroy Albert and Gladys Irene Binkele, the first born of three daughters.
Betty was preceded in death by, Robert William Barnes, of Tampa, FL, her one true love. Betty and Robert are rejoined in peace and eternal happiness after 50 years of marriage culminating from a blind date. Betty wore a gardenia in her hair, Bill wrote her love letters, and the rest was history. Together they lived and raised a family in the Panama Canal Zone for 20 years before moving back to the states. They also lived and raised their family in South Florida and Pennsylvania. A true life of adventure.
She was a selfless and fearless guardian, raising her four children and their nine grandchildren, as her own. She instilled in them the drive and selflessness that she embodied. She was brutally honest, always the best dressed and never let anyone go hungry in her presence.
Betty is survived by her four children, Robert Leroy Barnes, Beverly Jean Grantham, Barbara Lee Barnes, and Brian William Barnes. Her nine grandchildren Robert Shuey, Megan Poindexter, Robert Eric Barnes, Alison Barnes-Fashbaugh, April Barnes, Amber Barnes, Ashylnn Barnes, Brian William Barnes Jr, and Athena Barnes.
