Barbara Ann Verriest

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Verriest on November 14, 2024, at the age of 75. Barbara was born on May 7, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to Lawrence and Aretta Barstad.

Barbara graduated from Allen Park High School in 1967 and jumped right into a fantastic job.

Barbara met the love of her life and beloved husband, Robert Verriest, at her workplace, Michigan Bell Telephone Company. She worked as a Circuit Design Engineer for 19 years.

Barb and Bob moved from Michigan to Florida in 1994, a dream for Barb to be in warm weather and by the beach. They had a pool day every week and enjoyed many happy days/years in each other’s company. Every Friday night was spent going to the Eagles to dance and sing Karaoke.

She is survived by her loving husband Bob Verriest, her loving children: Ryan (Valeria) Verriest and Julie Verriest, Marie (Gregg) Huskin and Steven Verriest. Beloved grandchildren: Jesse, Sarah and John Huskin, Laura and Colin Verriest. Two brothers: Clay (Carol) Barstad of Tennessee, John (Debbie) Barstad of Michigan, Two sisters: Charlotte (Richard) Moskaitis of Michigan and Brenda (Robert) Brown of Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Aretta Barstad, siblings Donna (Jim) Guess, Larry Barstad Jr., Del Gentile, stepson David Verriest. She will be deeply missed by all but will live on eternally in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

The funeral service will take place at 10am on November 19, 2024 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home -Carrollwood, located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. Family will begin to receive friends starting at 9am.

Entombment will be at Sylvan Abbey Cemetery in Clearwater following the service.
