FEDERICO, Barbara Elizabeth Maier, 84 of Tampa passed away peacefully on May 20, 2018. She was born on April 30, 1934 in the Bronx, New York and was a retired travel agent. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, the Honorable Philip A. Federico, her parents, Barney and Elizabeth Maier, and her brother, Frederick Maier. She is survived by her 5 children: Philip J. (Angela); Michael (Kristin); Marybeth Storts (Craig); Jean Marie Casimo and Richard; 10 grandchildren: Nicole Perlini (Chessie); Alexis and Nicholas Federico; Eric and Monica Storts; Noelle and Madison Casimo and Roman, Sophia and Gabriella Federico; a sister, Dorothy Veach (Raymond); a brother-in-law, Joseph Federico and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Maier and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara attended school in New York and graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer in New York City in 1952. She married the love of her life, Phil on October 12, 1953. They raised their 5 children first in New Jersey before moving to Clearwater in 1969 where she worked in real estate sales and later in the travel industry for A Travel Fair in Clearwater. Barb and Phil loved to travel and enjoyed taking trips all over the world making lasting memories. In 2005 Barbara was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and battled PD everyday of her life with her stubborn determination and her sense of humor. In the hopes that someday there will be a cure for PD, Barbara has donated her brain for Parkinson’s research to the Brain Endowment Bank at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation: In Memory of Barbara Federico; 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800; Miami, Florida 33131. Visitation will take place on May 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Blount and Curry Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honor at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 10110 N. Central Ave. in Tampa at 2 p.m. on May 25. Burial will be private. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Nurses, CNA’s and staff of the University Village Nursing Center for their wonderful care of our Mom over the past several years and to the Lifepath Hospice Silver Team for their help and compassion during her final days.
