Barbara was a proud Oklahoma farm girl. She was born and raised in Billings, OK on her family’s farm. She grew up, as she would say to “dirt poor”. At the age 18 she quickly moved to San Antonio, TX and took a job working for the F.B.I. on the United States Air Force Base there. She then meet the love of her life; a young Airman named Robert “Bobby” Bernard from Tampa, Florida. They quickly fell in love, married and moved to Tampa, Florida to start their life together.
Barbara and Bobby were off and running; they built a house and created a home for their 3 kids. She provided a loving nurturing home for the family that they had created. Barbara was a very active and devoted member at Seminole Heights Baptist Church, where she served in many roles including as a church elder. Once her youngest was about 15 years old, she decided to get back into the workforce. She worked at Seminole Electric Co Op for several years in the H.R. Department; she then worked a few more years in the Mortgage Division of NCNB.
Barbara found a new passion in life when the grand kids started arriving. She loved being “Grandma”. Her grandkids were now the joy of her life. Her heart was so full of pride for each one of them until her very last breath.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bobby” Bernard, her parents Bill and Jewel Combrink, brothers Harold Combrink, Paul Combrink and Joe Combrink.
