Family, friends, and colleagues mourn the loss of Ashley Paige Van Winkle, who unexpectedly passed away on November 18, 2022, at the age of 34. A native Ohioan, Ashley was born in Kettering, Ohio on June 24, 1988, and had relocated to the Tampa Bay Area during the summer of 2021 with her mother and son.
Ashley was passionate about living life to the fullest. She was an adventure-seeker, both through her love for reading and eagerness to explore and travel. She enjoyed hiking, walking along the beach, and was always looking for the next place to visit with her son, Matthew. Ashley loved nature, and one of her favorite experiences was seeing the cherry blossom trees in Washington DC.
Undeniably, Ashley’s true loves of her life were her sons, Matthew, 13 years old, and Christian, 5 ½ months old. Her true self-worth came from being their mother. She was beyond proud of her sons’ accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to celebrate them. Her reason for living, her everything, was her sons, and it shined so brightly in how wonderful of a mother she was.
In crowds, Ashley was often quiet and reserved, but those who knew her best saw Ashley’s more exuberant side. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and could lighten any mood with her silliness.
Ashley was incredibly strong in her faith and devotion to God. She fervently committed her life to her faith, most recently exemplified in the baptismal ceremonies of her and her two sons this past summer. Ashley was dedicated to helping others, which led to her work in hospitals and healthcare. She enjoyed her job as a Sterile Processing Technician at Tampa General Hospital, quickly becoming friends with those she worked closely with.
Ashley’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who had the privilege to call her mom, daughter, granddaughter, sister, family, or friend. Many will carry her memory forward, but none so much as her surviving family: her sons, Matthew August and Christian Albo; her mom, Gina Van Winkle; her dad, Arthur Van Winkle; her siblings, Arthur Van Winkle, Britton Van Winkle, Farrah McGuire, Raven Van Winkle, Lindsey Williams, and Mandi Loayza; her grandparents, Charles and Nina Arndts; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
A gathering will be held in Ashley's honor on Monday, December 5, from 12 to 3 PM, with funeral services beginning at 2 PM, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home MacDill at 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609.
