Merin, Arlene 89, passed away at her Tampa home on Wed., May 13th after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney J. Merin. Born and reared in Pennsylvania she moved to Florida 65 years ago. Arlene lived in Sarasota then moved with her husband to Tampa where they settled and nurtured their family of 4 children. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Barr (David), Debra Merin, Michele Smith (Jack) and Jeffrey Merin. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Tristan Lang, Ryan and Jarred Blackmer, Elliot and Emory Merin and 5 great-grandchildren. Among her greatest enjoyments was being involved with her grandchildren. It could be merely putting puzzles together with them or taking them on trips, especially to Cloud High, their mountain home in Highlands, North Carolina. She was a consummate hostess in her home and a marvelous cook making family gatherings very special. A woman of style and class, she will be forever in our hearts and memories. Mom, Grandmom, MomMom -- you will be greatly missed and always loved. Donations can be made to Lifepath Hospice. Private family graveside services are planned per her wishes.
