Anthony S. Italiano Sr.(Tony), 89 years and eleven months, a lifelong resident of Tampa passed away December 25, 2010 at Melech Hospice House. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Maria, his son Anthony S. Italiano Jr., sister Eleanor Italiano Cumbo, and his wife Leona. He is survived by his remaining son, Salvatore A. Italiano (Linda); by his niece Theresa Cumbo Leonard (Victor); by six grandchildren: Mallory Italiano Dillion (Brian), Anthony Michael Italiano, Anthony S. Italiano (Kylie), Amanda A. Italiano, Jamie Italiano; and Anthony S. Italiano, III; and by nine great-grandchildren: Cameron and Chandler Dillion, Jayden and Trevor Italiano-Weiss, Sebastian and Siena Italiano, and Mallory, Grant and Ryan Italiano. Tony was known for success in two business endeavors: wholesale beer distribution and real estate investments, which both began in the 1940s. He was active in a variety of business ventures throughout his life, continuing through 2010. He was an avid coin collector, and a self-described ‘chocoholic,’ but his greatest joy was his devotion to his family, all of whom returned his generous love and affection. Tony also touched a great number of people, many of whom maintained regular contact with him. His closest friends were Robert Florio, Virgil Fabian, Peter Buttacavoli (deceased), Amato Severino (deceased), and Tony Garcia (a deceased Tampa beer distributor) The Piazza Family, Dr. Tony Castro, Dr. Andrew Massaro, and Sunny Burnett; however he had many other very close friends as well. He will be missed by all who knew him. Linda Schalck was a loyal employee, assisting Tony since 1981. Dorthy Reed was a devoted caregiver to Leona and Tony for 18 years. His trusted advisers were Richard Gordimer and David Boggs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jesuit High School Annual Giving Fund in memory of Anthony S. Italiano,4701 N. Himes Avenue, Tampa, FL 33614. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2010 from 6 to 8PM at Marsicano-B.Marion Reed-Stowers Funeral Home. A funeral service will then be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 6, 2010 at 2PM with internment to follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa.
