Annie Denson Tate a matriarch of the Gardner family, was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a cherished friend who peacefully transitioned on October 19, 2023, under the devoted care of her daughter, Terry Jackson, and surrounded by her family, in Falcon,Colorado. Born into this world on December 25, 1937, in the heart of Georgia, Annie's extraordinary journey left an indelible mark on countless lives throughout her purposeful and illustrious existence.
Annie was the second among the 14 beloved children born to the late Fred and Estella Gardner. Growing up within the embrace of a close-knit family, her profound faith led her to embrace the Lord as her personal Savior from a tender age. This unwavering faith remained a steadfast beacon, guiding her with boundless love and grace throughout her remarkable life.
The majority of Annie's years were spent in Tampa, Florida, where she crafted a legacy defined by love and unswerving devotion to her family. She leaves behind an enduring legacy of cherished memories and a profound influence on those privileged to have known her. Annie was strong, resilient and a fighter to the very end; determined even though her illness was painful. Annie's life was an ode to love, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to her cherished loved ones.
Annie now finds herself reunited in eternity with her beloved parents, Fred and Estella Gardner, alongside her dear brothers, Fred Gardner, Jimmie Gardner, Robert Gardner, Mose Gardner, Leon Gardner, and Webster Gardner, and her sisters, Marion Smith, and Hazel Denson.
She is survived by her devoted spouse, David Tate, and her cherished children: Desiree Denson, Basil Denson, Nolan Denson (Lisa), and Terry Jackson (Bobby). Step-children: Joy Smith, David Tate Jr., Arlene Ishmael and late Gregory Tate. Her memory endures through her beloved siblings: Lilly Cobb, Geraldine Randle, Berthenia Fields (Edward), and Barbara Gibbs (Frankie).
Annie's lasting legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren: Shala Howard, Nolan Denson (Desiree), Shameice Knight (Karaimai), Clerissa Denson, Victor Williams, Terrance Williams, Robert Smith, Nichele Denson, and Basil Denson. Her warmth and affection extend to her great-grandchildren: Shemar Mitchell, Christion Knight, Ar'Shay Robinson, Kayden Knight, James McKinney, Jhaze Williams, Aspen Williams, Riley Williams, Jerzie Williams, Braxton Sykes, Ramzy Smith, Renzo Smith, Rashad Jones, Ch'ike Williams, Charley Williams, Javen Smith and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were blessed to have her grace their lives.
Annie Denson Tate will forever be etched in our memories, not only for her boundless love and unwavering devotion to her family but also for her steadfast faith, boundless kindness, and the profound impact she made on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and faith will forever radiate within the hearts of all who held her dear.

A visitation for Annie will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Blount & Curry Life Event Center, 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa FL 33609. A funeral service will occur Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 12:00 PM, 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa FL 33609. An internment will occur Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Garden Of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. A repass will occur Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609.
