passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 6, 2018 one day shy of her 98th birthday. She will be reunited in heaven with her husband, Buck, her parents, her two brothers, and many other loved ones. Anna Kay leaves behind her sons, Alvin (Sharon) and Hugh (Laurie); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several loyal friends. Because her father was a Colonel in the Air Force, she had an adventurous childhood, living in various parts of the US and the world. Her adventures continued when she met and married the love of her life, Buck, in 1940 while he was playing pro hockey with the Leafs and the Wings. Two sons later, the family settled in Tampa where she began her career at Maas Brothers/Macy's in 1951. She retired in 1985 as the manager of the china and crystal department, having been instrumental in paving the way for future female executives. Anna Kay was a devoted members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Lady's Auxiliary. She was also a dedicated volunteer for years at Tampa General Hospital. A few adjectives to describe her are loving, just, loyal, hard-working, independent, and outspoken. She was a cherished wife, mother, and friend who will be forever missed. The family wishes to thank Vilma, Marie (Cookie), and staff at Abigail ALF for their loving care. A gathering for family and friends will take place Saturday, October, 27 from 9:30-10 am, followed by a chapel service at 10 am at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories. If desired, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice.
