Angela Carol McAllister, age 57, passed away at her home on June 1, 2018. Angela was a caring, energetic, selfless person who spent much of her time doing things for others. Angela was born on November 27, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee to Edward and Patsy Mogan. She grew up in Memphis, attended Immaculate Conception Cathedral School, and graduated from Memphis Central High School. After that, she attended the University of Memphis where she received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Microbiology. After working for several years in sales in the medical device industry, Angela attended South Texas College of Law in Houston, receiving a Juris Doctor degree in May 1991 and passing the bar exam soon thereafter. Angela spent much of her career practicing Family Law and was an Assistant County Attorney in Harris County, Texas for many years where she represented abused and neglected children for the Harris County Texas Protective Services Children’s Services Agency. Angela moved to Tampa in 2007 to be closer to her sister and two young nephews whom she loved dearly. She remained active providing pro bono legal services to Child Protective Services, and also became active in the Cheval Women’s Club. She developed a large group of new, close friends in her new hometown. Angela was also a devout animal lover, having rescued three abused cats and two chinchillas who she adopted and loved for more than ten years. For the past seven years she has been a loving mother to two borzois, Frost and Diva. Angela was a supporter of the World Wildlife Fund and the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. Angela was an especially talented artist, who drew, sketched, painted, and designed and made jewelry. Angela has also been a devoted caretaker to her mother, who has lived here with and near her in Tampa for the past eighteen months.
Angela was preceded in death by her father, Edward Mogan, M.D. She is survived by her mother Patsy Mogan, and three sisters, Patricia Kulinski (Robert) and Monica Crackel (Matt), both of Memphis, and Kathryn Cauthen (Charles) of Tampa. She is also survived by her two nephews, Sean and Peyton Cauthen of Tampa, who she adored and who loved her dearly.
Angela always put others’ needs first. Her endless, everyday kindness will be missed by her family and all of her large group of friends. Her sudden departure has left many in shock, but in appreciation of all she added to our lives.
Visitation will be Friday, June 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, both at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33603. In view of her love for animals, in lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Angela’s honor to the World Wildlife Fund.
