He was born on October 7, 1934 in Pascagoula, Mississippi to Henry Ugas and Nellie Ugas. Above all, Alphonse’s life was defined by sharing joy in his faith, family, and friends. His smile, storytelling, jokes, and laughter were contagious to those around him. This will live on in his legacy.
Alphonse lived the American dream and joined the United States Air Force as an aircraft maintenance mechanic. He served during the Vietnam war. Alphonse served his country for 21 years. After retiring from the Air Force, Alphonse and his family moved back to Tampa, Florida where he spent the remainder of his career working at Tampa Air Center.
Waiting at the doors of heaven was Alphonse’s loving wife, Gloria Ugas, to whom he was married to for 59 years. They are survived by two sons, Steve and Paul Ugas, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. During his lifetime he was proud to serve his country, loved his family dearly, and was a devoted husband, father, and Catholic.
