WILEY, Alice Dutka, 88, of Lutz, died unexpectedly but peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital North on 21 January, 2018. Alice is survived by her daughter Donna Wiley of Lutz, Fla.; her sister Olga Kelly of Tampa, Fla., granddaughter Alicia (Parrish) Tanner and their sons Alexander and James of Lutz, Fla.; granddaughter Brandi (Ryan) Johnson and their children, Payden, Grace, Madeline, and Cale of Zephyrhills, Fla., grandson Ryan Russell and his children Nolan and NeiLee of Lake Wales, Fla. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Wiley, and son, Robert (Skip) Wiley, Jr., both of Tampa, Fla. as well as her parents and her brothers, Nick, Billy, and George, and her sisters, Katie, Mary, and Irene.
Alice was born on 16 March, 1929 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Meketa Dutka and Alexandra Dutka (Shishkovsky), and was baptized into the Russian Orthodox Church. She graduated from High School and soon after immigrated to the United States. She met and married Bob in December 1946. Skip was born in December 1947 and Donna in December 1949. She became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. on 3 December, 1951. Alice held various jobs but was most known for her work as the Registrar at the Boys Scouts of America Headquarters in Tampa for over 34 years. She was an avid award winning grower of orchids and was recently made a lifetime member of the Tampa Orchid Club. One of her notable contributions to the field was in developing a highly effective orchid food mix based on Black Cow Manure.
She was a member of Keystone Community Church and participated weekly in a local Bible study with other ladies for 21 years. She was a member of the OWLS group of Northdale. She liked to travel and made many sojourns around the world, often with her sister Olga and her best friend Jean Reik.
She doted on her grandchildren and enjoyed their many successes and activities. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she enjoyed the bustle of activities and the warmth of her family.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm, Friday 26 January with a visitation one hour prior at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, Fla. 33610. Interment will immediately follow. Pastor Gary Edwards, Keystone Community Church will officiate at the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alice’s life.
