It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alex, who was born on October 16, 1963, in Havana, Cuba, and departed from this world on December 17, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Alex is survived by his beloved life partner, Angie, his sister, Teresa, and his niece, Francesca, all of whom held a special place in his heart. His dedication to family & friends and the love he shared with them was evident in every moment spent together.
A highly accomplished individual, Alex received an undergraduate degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Florida and a masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida. His passion and expertise in civil engineering and project management spanned decades among multiple organizations.
Aside from his professional accomplishments, Alex had a zest for life that was contagious. He had a profound love for good food, and his culinary adventures often led him to his favorite spots, including Costco, Culver's, Cuban Foodies and Alessi's (the Cuban hand carved one). His sense of humor was unmatched, and he was renowned for his quick wit, sarcasm, and penchant for the ridiculous, making every moment spent in his company an unforgettable one.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that Catholic masses be offered for the repose of his soul. We remember him not with tears, but with gratitude for the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. He will be missed.
A memorial service for Alex will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33614.
