Alberto is survived by his wife Nancy Sanchez; his son AJ and daughter in law Cynthia and grandson Maximus Sanchez of Tampa, FL; his daughters Bebe Sanchez of Dallas, TX and Diana and son in law Guy Williamson of Bernardsville, NJ.
Alberto was born on February 5 in Havana, Cuba to Manuel and Manuela Sanchez. He married Nancy in 1962. He graduated from Villanova University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. He continued his education at Drexel University and earned a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. He began his career in Ohio and continued in Philadelphia and in 1974 relocated to Tampa. Alberto worked for several firms over his career and in 1988 he started his own firm, A. J. Sanchez Consulting Engineers, Inc. providing engineering services in the areas of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, and fire protection for commercial, institutional, education and industrial facilities. His children remember him as a kind/gentle/patient/driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Alberto was recognized by his peers as outstanding in his field, Villanova University Distinguished Alumni and Fellow ASHRAE. He loved to tell jokes, was generous, kind and enjoyed dancing, especially to Latin music. He was an active and dedicated member of Christ the King Church serving as an usher, Rotary Club, ASHRAE, Krewe of Sant Yago and often volunteered at Metropolitan Ministries and Boys and Girls Club. He was proud to be Cuban and lived the American dream.
A mass is scheduled for Wednesday July 26th at 2:00pm at Christ the King, with a reception to follow at Christ the King Mary Martha Center. Father Andrew will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alberto's life.
