I was saddened to hear of Richard's passing. My condolences and prayers to him and his family. His service as a Marine in Vietnam and as a police officer on the gritty streets of Chicago are a reflection of his bravery, character and patriotism. Thank You Richard. Rest in peace. I know the Sanchez family from 18th and Wabash in Chicago 1958. Richard and my brother Enrique were such  good friends that  while in VietNam; Richard joined Enrique in Okinawa for R&R. They were both Marines. The Sanchez, Madigals  families were first to 18th and Wabash building. Us Martinez moved in 1959 and went to Haven Elementary across from the Old Coliseum on Wabash(no longer there). The three Sanchez brothers were altar servers at Old St. John on 18th and Clark (also no longer there).  Fond memories. Loves their mother Dona Paulita, Abuelo, Don Miguel and those smart, street wise boys.  My sincere condolences to Sanchez family

I love you my sweet sweet Daddy, my first love, my best friend 

Richard was such a character! I knew him since we were teenagers. I married his older brother Michael and was welcomed into the Sanchez family with open arms. My favorite  memory of Richard was when he worked for CTA as a driver. He was making a relief to another driver ready to go home. Richard decided to make it interest  for the passengers.  He had a long coat on but rolled up his pants so he looked like he wore nothing  underneath.  He got on the bus , stood with his back to the passengers  then turned real fast like he was going to flash them . Women screamed, people  yelling call the police. He thought it was hysterical.  That was him, making an everyday experience into a memorable surprise. I know you, Michael and Jay are together and making  heaven a much more lively place. Love you Richard...kiss Tata for me. Dear God thank you for reconnecting me with my dad and siblings I will always be forever grateful for the last 15 years I have spent with you. He was a funny caring and a  giving person. We will meet again one day I love you and you will definitely be  missed  💋


Grandpa Ricardo I will miss you and I love you.

Daddy loved his brothers so much!  And Tata and Abuelo were everything to him.  

Daddy was so full of life and fun whenever we were with him.  He was the funniest guy.   I will never ever be the same as I will forever miss him.  

He was also Daddy to his fur babies Rocky and Nikko as well as Sunny (Edmund’s dog). He truly loved those dogs and they were by his side 24/7.  

 Ricardo Sanchez was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico.   The twin of his brother John Sanchez and younger brother of Michael Sanchez.  Husband of Lucinda Mueller Sanchez and father to Sandra V Sanchez, Cristina P Sanchez, Ricardo R Sanchez, Edmund Negrillo, Hector Bermudez, Julie A Natanson (née Jamie Jennifer), and Lillyana E Sanchez.   Grandfather to Julian A Sanchez, Kai A Sanchez, Asia Beavers, Anthony Pitts, Hector Jr, Jaden and Jacob Bermudez, Sophia A Jones, and Great Grandfather to twins Enery and Evangeline Sanchez.  Uncle to Sonia, Sergio, Alejandra, Michelle, Melanie, Paula, Allyson, and Great Uncle to Joel, Kairo, Daisy, Matthew,  Daniel, Adam, and Che.   

My Dad was/is  truly one of my best friends. We had the best friendship/ Dad and daughter relationships. I love you infinitely. I’ll never ever ever ever stop loving, missing, thinking, or talking about and to u  ❤️ Watch over our family ❤️ Xoxo 

Early AM one Saturday, after Winston and I moved into our home, Rick sent another police officer to ask if they could use our green house for a stake out.  Answering the door in pj’s, we were a bit confused and concerned because we had a young daughter. We asked all kinds of questions, and just as I was about to ask yet another, he jumped out and yelled, “Surprise!” We moved into a neighborhood that was in the district where he worked. We laughed about that for years!
