Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure. We may no longer see you with our eyes, touch you with our hands, but we will feel you in our hearts forever.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Doris Maud Barrett formerly Mrs. Doris Clarke, affectionately known as “Sister Dor, Age 87 years, formerly of Llandovery Mountain district, Mt. Zion P.A, St. Ann, Jamaica.
She passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 30th, 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from natural causes. She was a longstanding member of the Mt. Zion Baptist church where she sang on the choir for many years. She will be remembered for her melodious voice, her kindness, sympathetic nature, also she was friendly, and courteous at all.
She was a beloved and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, loving family member and friend.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Aunt Beck (Mary Rebecca), her father: Clemence, her daughter: Ilene and her great granddaughter: Saige.
She is survived by James Clarke also known as Bother Jim, her sister: Evoll in Canada, her 3 Surviving Children: Doreen, Maxine, and Karen, 10 Grandchildren: Sophia, Stephanie, Raé-Anna, Simone, Sabrina, Abigail, Ryan, Lensay, Laci and Ateba. Her 8 great grandchildren: Alima, Jayden, Dante, Maleke, Damarion, Raheem, Jayce, and Ameilia. Her 3 nephews: Benton, Dwight and Andre’; Her sons- in-law Robert and Patrick and her many Cousins. Her In-Laws Lesma, Frank, Floretta, Phyllis, Tiani and Peter. Her many friends from near and far, also her numerous family members and well-wishers in England, Canada, America, Jamaica. the Cayman Islands and Antigua.
The Funeral service for the late “Doris Maud Barrett Formerly Doris Clarke will take place on April 17, 2021, at the Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, North Lauderdale, Florida at 10:00am. Viewing of the body is from 9:00am. Interment will take place in the mausoleum at Bailey Memorial North Lauderdale, Florida at 12:30pm. An offering will be taken in lieu of the Mount Zion Baptist Church building Fund.
