Anne Ines Adolphe, the beloved matriarch of our family, lived a long, impactful life filled with love, resilience, and dedication to those around her. Born on March 13, 1922, in Ennery, Haiti, to Sylvia Gaspard and Eurodolf Adolphe, Anne was raised in a large and loving household alongside her 11 siblings. From an early age, she embodied strength and determination—values that would define her remarkable journey.
With a sharp mind and entrepreneurial spirit, Anne pursued education and built a life of purpose. She established and operated both a grocery store and a fabric store in Marchand Dessalines, and owned land in her native city of Ennery, Haiti, providing not only for her family but also serving her community with generosity and care. Her commitment to uplifting those around her remained steadfast throughout her life.
In the 1980s, Anne emigrated to the United States, where she became the cornerstone of her family.
Known affectionately as "Granny” in her New York community, she was more than a mother and grandmother—she was a guiding light. A loving caretaker, wise counselor, and fierce protector, she created a home where love, laughter and wisdom flourished. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to all who knew her.
Anne was blessed with her loving children: Rose, Marie-Lourdes, Gregoire Anthony (d. 2001), Lidy (d.) and Azer (d.). She is survived by her two devoted daughters, her cherished sisters, Marie Theresé and Paul- Marie, and her six beloved grandchildren: Christina Gordon, Regine Napoleon, Alain Napoleon, Gregory Adolphe, Danielle Adolphe and Yovica Valentin. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren— Ava Grace-Noelle, Anthony Joseph, Gregory Patrick, Annalise Carolle, Gabriella Kathleen, Preston Gregory, and Giada Carmela—who will carry forward the values she instilled.
Anne's influence extended far beyond her immediate family. She embraced an extensive village of nieces, nephews, cousins, surrogate children, and dear friends, all of whom found in her to be a source of love, warmth, and unwavering support.
Her life was a testament to resilience, faith, and boundless love. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion that will continue to inspire generations. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched.
Rest in peace, dear Anne—your love and light will never fade.
