William Herman Dyer III

Trooper William H. Dyer, III, passed away at Select Specialty Hospital on Wednesday, December 28, 2011.

Bill was born on August 15, 1972, in DeKalb County, Atlanta, GA. Bill graduated from Woodland Hall Academy and Troy State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology. Bill served in the FHP Auxiliary while he was in college. He attended the Florida Highway Patrol Academy and became an FHP Trooper in 1995 beginning his childhood dream of serving in law enforcement. He served the State of Florida in Pinellas County and Leon County with extreme dedication for over 16 years. Bill truly loved his work and helping others. Bill learned to shoot skeet as a child, was an excellent shot, and a lifetime aficionado of firearms. He enjoyed fishing and golf. Bill was of the Protestant faith.

Bill was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herman and Estelle Dyer; his maternal grandparents, Robert H. and Ruth Riley Mims (Orangeburg, SC); his aunt Mary Dyer (Naples, FL); his uncle, Robert Dyer; and his aunt, Rosemary Rembert (Beaufort, SC).

He is survived by his parents, Bill and Brenda Dyer; and his sister, Nancy Dyer; and aunts, JoAnne Dyer and Robbie Fulmer (Ridgeville, SC); and uncle, Carson Rembert (Beaufort, SC); and his Belgian Malinois, Spanky.

The family is most appreciative to the Vogter Neurological ICU at TMH and all of the doctors and staff at Select Specialty Hospital who attended Bill during his illness. A very special thank you to the members of Troop H and all other FHP personnel for the love and support afforded Bill and his family during his illness.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held at at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, on Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm followed by a celebration of Bill's life at 2:00 pm.
