William Earl Blanton, Jr., also known as "Bill" or "Wild Bill" by most, and "Billy" by his Mother, was born in Perry, Taylor County, FL on October 14, 1943 and passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. He is survived by a sister Earline Neeley; two sons, William Earl Blanton, III "Bo" (and wife Bridget), and William Earl Frary Blanton "Will" (and wife Michelle); a daughter, Gina Blanton; two grandsons, Devyn Gibson and Jake Ward; three granddaughters, Jordan Taylor Blanton, Jamee Grace Blanton and Kaitlyn Ward; and a favorite Aunt Vivian Catledge, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Father, William Earl Blanton, Sr., Mother, Agnes Mozelle Blanton, grandson, Austin James Gibson, son Tyson James Clark, and daughter, Sherri Blanton Hurst.
Bill's hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycles, wood working and spending time with his family. He was also a Shriner and a Mason. In 1971, he went to work with the Perry Police Department and then was hired later that same year by the Tallahassee Police Department. He retired from TPD 26 later and in 1997 began working with the U.S. Marshal's Office.
Visitation is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, at Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road at 2 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m. There will be a private family graveside service scheduled in the future. The family wishes to offer his friends and family the opportunity to say a few words at the service if moved to do so and wishes to publicly thank everyone for their kindness and outpouring of love during this time.
