Wendy Meyer, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on October 26, 2022. She is survived by son, Chris; daughter, Gretchen Sims and her husband, Chad; 4 grandchildren, Trevor, Noa, Oakley, and Piper; and her loving siblings, Carylee Gifford, Chippy Morishige, Agnes Ferreira, Suzy Tasaka, and William Stewart.
Wendy was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she lived her formative years and graduated from business school. She would eventually move to Washington, DC, and while working at FBI headquarters, she would meet the love of her life, Art Meyer, Jr., who was stationed nearby in The Marines.
Wendy and Art would marry in 1970 and settle in Tallahassee, FL. While Art attended college at FSU, Wendy supported her family by working at the Department of Environmental Regulations (now DEP), where over her 30+ years of service she ascended to mailroom supervisor.
Wendy and Art were married 24+ years and moved to Havana, FL shortly before Art’s untimely death in 1995. Although widowed and retired, Wendy remained busy by doing the things she loved: sewing, antiquing, planting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Wendy was a special woman who will always be remembered and loved.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 7, 2022, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Marine Corps League, Detachment 472.
